Why Carlsbad dryer runs need a booster fan

The cause is duct length, not a weak dryer. Two-story tracts built in the 1990s and 2000s put laundry upstairs. The duct climbs through a chase to a roof jack. Those runs hit 20-35 ft with multiple elbows. Every elbow counts as added equivalent length. Manufacturers rate the blower for a fixed total. Past that number, lint settles instead of exiting. Converted garage laundries do the same thing horizontally, snaking along the ceiling to a far wall.

A fan is the wrong answer for some of these. Check the easy stuff first. Kinked foil transition behind a pedestal pair. A pest screen on the vent cover, which is never code-compliant.
